#MCP041 Low cost refrigeration system using LPG.

This project a low-cost refrigeration system can be designed using LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) as a refrigerant. This system utilizes the principle of LPG expansion to create a cooling effect, eliminating the need for a mechanical compressor or electrical energy. LPG, being a mixture of propane, butane, and isobutene, offers an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional refrigerants.

This system has been used for refrigeration . So that the liquefied form of LPG can be used for cooling and the expanded LPG gas can be further used for combustion as a fuel. In this refrigeration system used a the evaporator  is kept inside the refrigerator and the LPG gas is passed through this evaporator as the temperature of the gas is low it starts making the refrigerator temperature decrease gradually and at the same time, other side cooking can be done. It consists of a metal frame, copper pipe, refrigerator body, pressure gauge, pipe, regulator, pressure sensor and temperature indicator. It can play an important role in restaurants where continuously cooling and heating is required also in chemical industries for refrigeration purpose. In remote areas where electricity is not available this refrigeration system using LPG system will come into use for cooling purpose.

Components

  • Copper pipe
  • Refrigerator body
  • Pressure guage
  • Pipe
  • Regulator
  • Pressure sensor
  • Temperature indicator
  • Evaporator.
  • Capillary tube.
  • Key advantages of this system include:
    • Low Cost: LPG is a relatively inexpensive refrigerant compared to traditional options.
    • Environmentally Friendly: LPG has no ozone depletion potential and minimal global warming potential.
    • No Electricity Required: The system operates without the need for electricity, making it suitable for off-grid or areas with unreliable power supply.
    • Quiet Operation: The system is designed to be silent during operation.
    • Low Maintenance: The absence of a compressor simplifies the system, potentially reducing maintenance requirements.
    • LPG for Heating and Cooling: LPG can be used for both heating and cooling, offering flexibility in energy usage.
